How do you wish someone you have been friends with for 26 years a happy birthday? That is my task at hand.Christie and I have been friends our whole lives. Yes all our lives some people say they have been friends forever but 10 years is not that long. We have been friends sense birth, and we are only 17 days apart so truly its been a long time.
Way back in 1982 our moms (Pat and Karen) would sit next to each other in Relief Society and they would lay us in a blanket next to each other. That is when it all began, I don't think we spent a day with out each other during all of childhood. I was at her house or she was at mine.
We dressed the same cut our hair the same. Would acted like we were twins. ( She was Whitney and I was Brittany) We had so much fun no matter what we did, it didn't take much for us to be happy, give us some barbies and we could play for hours on end.
Once we got a little older you know like 10 we would hope on the old UTA bus and head for the mall. We could spend all day there. Eating pizza, get our pictures taken in that little photo booth buying troll earrings anything.
I remember the days when we would ride our bikes up to japs hill to meet our then super cool boyfriends, Bret Jackson and Chad Robertson. They would give us stuff like earrings and rings if we would kiss them. So we would I mean come on a little kiss for some killer rings!
The fun sleep overs we had staying up late to watch girls just want to have fun or, major legal. Life was so great.
There was the time we (ok me) thought after swimming at the pool you had to shower, which I think was a good idea, just not the naked part. When you 8 nothing is a big deal. Then we would hit the vending machines and get banana moon pies and Dr Pepper, then I'm sure ride our bikes to one of our houses and finish the day off with some barbies.
These are just a few of the great times we had with each other. The older we got the better things got too. Dating, driving. Now I could go on and on about high school. Getting flat tires, getting stuck in the snow at 5am on a doughnut run in tank tops and boxers. And for some reason it always happened in Brown Betty.
26 years later and we are still as good of friends as ever. I know life would not be the same with out her, she is the best and I am so lucky to call her my Best Friend. I wish everyone could be as lucky to have a friend like her. I am looking forward to the next 26 years of friendship. Thanks Chris fir being the best friend a girl could ever have, I couldn't make it in life with out you. Your the best I love you!!!
